Connect Substack to ChatGPT

Give ChatGPT your real Substack history — newsletter posts and Notes with their full text, reaction, comment and restack counts, and subscriber history — so it answers from what you actually published instead of guessing. Connecting is free.

Connect Substack free

Early access. Substack connections are rolling out account by account. Create your free account and connect your other channels now; Substack appears under Add a channel when it reaches you.

How to connect Substack to ChatGPT

  1. Connect Substack to Mysocial. Substack has no OAuth, so you paste your profile link, @handle or newsletter address and Mysocial reads your public archive and Notes. Nothing to authorize, and nothing it could ever post.
  2. Open Settings → Connectors and enable Developer mode under Advanced.
  3. 3 Add a connector at https://app.mysocial.io/mcp using OAuth.
  4. 4 Sign in to Mysocial and approve. ChatGPT can now read the channels you have connected.

Developer mode is required because ChatGPT treats custom MCP connectors as a developer feature. It is a setting, not a paid plan.

What makes Substack different

Substack publishes no view or open counts anywhere public, so the only honest measure of a post is its engagement against the subscriber count it had when it went out — and that is exactly what Mysocial snapshots. It is also the one platform where the whole essay is the content: an assistant reads the full text of every free post and Note, not a caption beside a video. Restacks are the distribution signal worth watching; a post that was restacked travelled beyond your own list, and a post that was merely liked did not.

Why ChatGPT

ChatGPT reaches the largest audience of the three, and for most creators it is the assistant already open in another tab. The trade-off is setup: custom connectors sit behind Developer mode, and it is web and desktop only — there is no mobile connector today. Once connected it behaves like any other ChatGPT conversation, with your catalogue underneath it.

What to ask ChatGPT once your posts and Notes are connected

  • “Which of my posts were restacked most, and what did they have in common?”
  • “Compare how my Notes perform against my full newsletter posts over the last 90 days.”
  • “Which essays pulled comments rather than just likes?”
  • “What have I been writing about in Notes that never became a full post?”

None of these are answerable from a screenshot or a pasted export. They need your whole catalogue, and they need ChatGPT to know what typical looks like for you specifically.

Free versus paid

Free gives your assistant the record. Paid gives it the understanding. The line is provenance, not a quota: what Substack already reports about you is free to read. What Mysocial's own pipeline produced — transcribing, ingesting, analysing — is paid.

Free

  • Your posts and captions across every connected channel
  • View, like, comment and share counts
  • Complete metrics and follower history
  • Measured audience demographics
  • Search and rank your whole catalogue

Paid

  • Video transcripts — what you actually said, not just what you captioned
  • The comments themselves, not only how many there were
  • Audience psychographics — what your audience responds to, not just who they are
  • Hit DNA — the structural patterns behind your best posts
  • Creator Universe — outlier research across creators beyond your own channels

Questions

How do I connect Substack to ChatGPT?

Connect your Substack account to Mysocial, then add Mysocial as a connector in ChatGPT using https://app.mysocial.io/mcp. ChatGPT can then read your Substack posts, metrics and comments directly — no exports and no copy-paste.

Is it free to connect Substack to ChatGPT?

Connecting is free, and so is reading what Substack itself reports — your posts and captions, view, like and comment counts, follower history and measured audience demographics. What Mysocial's own pipeline produces is paid: video transcripts, the comment text itself, audience psychographics, Hit DNA and Creator Universe research.

What can ChatGPT actually see?

Only the channels you connect, and only what you approve. Mysocial relays your newsletter posts and Notes with their full text, reaction, comment and restack counts, and subscriber history. It cannot post on your behalf and it cannot see accounts you have not connected.

Does this work with other AI assistants?

Yes. Mysocial is a standard Model Context Protocol server, so the same URL works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and any other MCP client.
